
The Uzbek National Academic Drama Theater lost another great artist. Master artist, People's Artist of Uzbekistan, laureate of the State Prize, and holder of the Order "Fidokorona xizmatlari uchun" (For Selfless Service) Yakub Akhmedov passed away at the age of 87, the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theater reported.
Yakub Akhmedov was one of the prominent figures in Uzbek stage art. His work, his highly skillful portrayals, and his invaluable contributions to theater and cinema have left a deep mark on the hearts of audiences.
He was born on January 3, 1938, in Namangan. The boy, who had loved the stage since childhood, later entered the world of art from the stage of the Namangan Regional Musical Drama and Comedy Theater. Here he began to understand the secrets of acting and clearly chose his path.
In 1959, he graduated from the A.N. Ostrovsky Tashkent Institute of Theater and Fine Arts. From this time on, his creative path became inextricably linked with the capital. He began his career in 1958 at the Hamza Academic Drama Theater (now the National Academic Drama Theater of Uzbekistan). Yakub Akhmedov created about 50 stage images and left an indelible mark on the history of the theater.
In the late 1990s, he also worked as a theater director. Working as director until 2013, he made a great contribution to the upbringing of a new generation of the team. In 2015, he founded the "School of Acting Skills" studio, paving the way for young talents.
Yakub Akhmedov was a master not only on stage, but also on screen. She has been active in the film industry since 1958, appearing in hundreds of films. His filmography includes classic works such as "I'm Enchanted" (1958), "The Mischievous Boy" (1977), "Ali Baba and the Adventures of the Forty Robbers" (1980), and "Starry Nights." He is also known for his participation in dubbing work in more than 400 films.
His work was imbued with deep philosophy, human feelings, and a spirit of patriotism. He remained an example for his colleagues and students, both as a teacher and as a person.
The world of art remembers him not only for his talent, but also for his humanity and modest lifestyle. Yakub Akhmedov lives in the hearts of the people not only as a stage star, but also as one of the founders of the national theater school.
