Fraudster demanding $18,000 for Hajj pilgrimage exposed in Andijan

Law enforcement authorities in Uzbekistan's Andijan region have apprehended an individual for allegedly orchestrating a fraudulent Hajj pilgrimage scheme. The suspect, identified as M.Ch., reportedly promised to arrange travel to Saudi Arabia for two citizens in exchange for $18,000. He was caught red-handed by officials from the General Prosecutor's Office while accepting a $9,000 deposit. A criminal case for fraud has been initiated, and an investigation is currently underway.
In the Andijan region, a person who promised to organize a "Hajj" pilgrimage was apprehended by law enforcement agencies.
The case was uncovered during an operational event conducted in cooperation with the Department under the General Prosecutor's Office and other agencies.
It was revealed that citizen M.Ch. stated he would send two individuals on a Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia and demanded 18,000 US dollars for this service.
He was caught with material evidence while receiving half of the agreed amount—9,000 dollars.
A criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 168 of the Criminal Code (fraud), and investigation proceedings are ongoing.
