Will Dejan Kulusevski return to the pitch after his injury?

The Sweden national team doctor has provided an update on Tottenham and national team star Dejan Kulusevski. Although the player has been sidelined for a year due to injury, the medical staff remains optimistic about his career continuation. This is reported by Goal.com .
Despite missing the entire 2025-26 season, Kulusevski is now focusing on the 2026-27 club campaign. The forward is preparing to work under Roberto De Zerbi at Tottenham. National team doctor Jonas Werner expressed confidence in the long-term prospects of the former Juventus player.
“He is not giving up hope,” Werner told Sportbladet. “The club and the specialists assisting in his rehabilitation are providing great support. I have high hopes that he will play football again.” Due to a serious knee injury, Kulusevski will also miss the World Cup in North America.
The forward has not played in an official match since May 2025. Initially, Ange Postecoglou assessed the injury as minor, but the situation later became complicated, requiring multiple surgeries. Sweden head coach Graham Potter also admitted that excluding the player from the squad was a very difficult decision.
Dr. Werner explained that the 26-year-old winger's recovery process is complex. “It is a long-running story. Dejan did everything to be ready for the World Cup, but ultimately medical reports showed he was not ready. Being without match practice for over a year has taken its toll,” the doctor added.
