The American technology giant Apple plans to significantly increase iPhone production capacity in India in order to reduce dependence on the Chinese market. This news has generated great interest among Apple fans and the technology community, as the move is aimed at minimizing geopolitical and economic risks.
According to Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman, all four models of iPhone 17 will be manufactured in India. The production expansion includes the operation of five factories, including new facilities from Tata Group and Foxconn. Experts estimate that Tata’s factories will be able to produce half of all iPhones made in India within the next two years.
According to the data, between April and July 2025, iPhones worth a total of 7.5 billion USD were exported from India to the US and other markets, which is twice as much as the previous financial year. This result made India the leader in smartphone production for the US, surpassing China, and turned the country into an important global player. Canalys analytics platform data also confirms this trend.
One of the main reasons for relocating production to India is the desire to reduce risks associated with geopolitical tensions and US tariff policies. However, China is obstructing technology supplies. Therefore, Foxconn offered highly qualified specialists from Taiwan and Japan instead of Chinese engineers, which significantly increased production costs.
As a result, Apple’s expansion of production in India is not only an important step in the company’s global strategy but also a key factor in ensuring stability in iPhone capacity and supply for the US and global market.
