Construction of Uzbekistan's first toll road has begun

The construction of the first toll road in Uzbekistan has begun in Khorezm - on the Urgench-Khiva route. According to the "Uzbekistan 24" TV channel, within the framework of this project worth $120 million, a large infrastructure will be built, including 35 kilometers of modern highways, bridges, and tunnels.
The new road will be built on a four-lane asphalt-concrete pavement. According to experts, the route's capacity is expected to reach more than 20,000 vehicles per day. That is, this road is not "just a road" - it's a serious step against traffic jams that accelerates movement.
The project is divided into five lots, and several construction organizations are involved simultaneously. It is reported that the construction process is being carried out under the supervision of laboratories and international consultants. It was also noted that more than a thousand pieces of equipment are operating in the work area, and thousands of specialists are involved in the project.
According to Dilshodbek Niyozmetov, Head of the Khorezm Regional Road Administration, within the road:
- 17 bridges,
- 8 overpasses,
- 1 tunnel,
- 5 special crossings,
communication networks and engineering structures will also be built.
The biggest "promise" is time: after the new highway is commissioned, the travel time from Urgench to Khiva is expected to be reduced from 1 hour to 17 minutes. This means that trips will be reduced, logistics will be simplified, and neither tourists nor locals will lose.
As noted by the director of LLC "Yul-loyiha byuro" Gulom Zokhidov, the road consists of four lanes, terminals are being designed at the beginning, middle, and end. Two service points will be built using modern technologies and geotextile materials. Along the road, collectors have been designed taking into account the proximity of groundwater characteristic of Khorezm, as well as modern drainage solutions.
Special crossings and overpasses are also included in the plan for the protection of flora and fauna, as well as the safety of the population. That is, the project considers not only speed, but also safety and consideration of nature.
In short, the construction of the Urgench-Khiva highway is a new stage in the infrastructure of Khorezm. If things go as planned, this road can later become a "model" for other regions as well. Let it finish faster - covering a 1-hour journey in 17 minutes is truly a "time-upgrade."
