Uzbekistan Senate Simplifies Court Appeal Procedures

At the latest plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, a law aimed at simplifying court appeals for citizens and entrepreneurs was discussed. This document provides for important amendments to the Criminal Procedure, Economic Procedure, Administrative Responsibility, and Administrative Court Procedure codes. This is reported by Uzdaily.uz reports .

One of the main innovations in the law is the introduction of extraterritorial jurisdiction. Now, citizens and entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to apply to the relevant court in any region of their choice. Additionally, a "preliminary hearing" institution is being introduced in administrative courts, which will serve to improve the quality of judicial proceedings.

The document pays special attention to strengthening the responsibility of state bodies. Specifically, the participation of a state official in court hearings is becoming mandatory. Furthermore, the principle of "legal protection of trust" is being strengthened: from now on, the state body itself, rather than the entrepreneur, will be held accountable for the errors of that body.

The economic court system is also being optimized, with inter-district economic courts being established in place of district (city) economic courts. Senate members emphasized that this law serves to improve the investment climate, reduce corruption factors, and uphold human dignity. The law was approved by the senators.
