A terrible fire broke out in a 21-story residential building in the South Korean capital Seoul. This was reported by the local Yonhap news agency.
One person died and six others were injured in the incident. Four of the injured, aged between 50 and 80, were taken to hospital with smoke inhalation and breathing difficulties. Two of them were forced to risk their lives by jumping from the fourth floor of the building to escape the smoke.
According to police, the fire was deliberately started by a 60-year-old man. He set fire to the building using a special sprayer designed for spraying pesticides and committed suicide. In a letter left by the man before his death, he asked his daughter to look after her sick mother. The letter also included 50,000 won (about $35) for his wife's treatment.
Police found the man's body on the fourth floor and confirmed that his fingerprints matched those on the sprayer used to set the fire.
Firefighters worked for more than 1.5 hours to put out the massive fire. The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
