The US launched a large-scale airstrike against Iran’s Fordow nuclear complex. According to an American official who gave information to CNN, six modern B-2 bomber aircraft dropped twelve special “bunker buster” bombs on the underground structure of this site.
Additionally, US Navy submarines launched 30 Tomahawk (TLAM) cruise missiles at other nuclear-related facilities in Natanz and Isfahan. It was also officially confirmed that two more “bunker buster” bombs were dropped on Natanz by B-2 aircraft.
Details of this military operation were first reported in The New York Times.
The GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), known as a “bunker buster,” is a special bomb weighing 30,000 pounds (13.6 tons), containing 6,000 pounds (2.7 tons) of explosives. According to a US Air Force fact sheet, this bomb was developed to “destroy weapons of mass destruction located in well-protected areas of enemy states.”
This attack caused sharp outrage within Iran. One of the close advisers to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Hossein Shariatmadari — the editor-in-chief of the conservative Kayhan newspaper — made a strong statement: “There will be a response to the US attack on Fordow.”
In a message published on Telegram, he said:
“After the US aggression on the Fordow nuclear facility, now it’s our turn. Without hesitation or delay, we must first launch a missile strike on the American naval fleet based in Bahrain, and simultaneously close the Strait of Hormuz to ships from the US, UK, Germany, and France.”
So far, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has not made any official statement regarding the US action.
According to CNN:
During night surveillance, there was a significant increase in aerial activity over Tehran. Air defense systems were activated several times, and anti-aircraft gunfire in the skies was also observed.
The air traffic was intense, but no one knew that it was an operation initiated by President Trump. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
