Kremlin: Putin and Trump talks were positive and trustful

Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov emphasized that the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump “was indeed very positive, and both presidents themselves noted this.”

According to the Kremlin representative, this conversation allows the leaders of both countries to move confidently along the path of searching for agreement options. Peskov thus described the summit as an important dialogue.

He also explained why the presidents did not answer journalists’ questions at the press conference. According to Peskov, “the statements were detailed enough, so it was decided to forgo questions at the final conference.”

Russian President’s special representative Kirill Dmitriev also commented on the summit, noting that the meeting between Putin and Trump was a “positive and constructive dialogue.” He stressed that it is important that the American president emphasized the existence of great potential in the economic sphere between Moscow and Washington.

It should be recalled that on August 15 Trump and Putin met in Alaska and held negotiations at a military base in Anchorage. At the end of the meeting, no official agreement was announced. Later, the presidents came out before the press, read their statements, but left the hall without answering journalists’ questions.

In conclusion, despite the absence of an official agreement, the Kremlin evaluated the summit positively. It was emphasized that the dialogue between the leaders of Russia and the United States may open the way to new opportunities.
