On August 28 of this year, an unexpected incident occurred: two fuel tanker trucks crossed the Ecuadorian border to deliver gasoline from Colombia. However, when the police decided to conduct an investigation, it turned out that the drivers' luggage was completely different. It was revealed that a huge amount of cocaine - 2.3 tons - was being transported instead of fuel.
The incident once again demonstrated the seriousness of the fight against drug trafficking in South America. Recently, a number of countries in the region have sharply strengthened measures against smuggling and drug trafficking.
In particular, the Venezuelan government sent warships to the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Venezuela to restrict illegal trade and the activities of armed groups in the border areas with Colombia.
At the same time, the US also announced the deployment of warships to the southern part of the Caribbean Sea to reduce the influence of drug cartels.
Experts emphasize that these operations are an important step towards stopping drug trafficking. However, the possibility of drug cartels changing their routes and using new methods remains a dangerous factor.
This large-scale detention process in Ecuador sparked widespread public discussion, once again highlighting the need for countries to cooperate.
