A new disagreement arose within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. As reported by AnewZ, India once again rejected Azerbaijan's application to join the SCO as a full member.
According to reports, India attributes this decision to Azerbaijan's open support for Pakistan. According to Indian diplomats, this situation contradicts the foundations of multilateral cooperation and the "Shanghai spirit." Because within the framework of the SCO, conflicts between the two states should not be transferred to the organization's sphere.
But China is in a completely different position. Beijing officials fully support Azerbaijan's statement, emphasizing its compliance with SCO principles.
At the same time, political scientists note that such a situation further clarifies the contradictions and disagreements within the organization. On the one hand, there is support and encouragement from China, and on the other - a sharply blocking position from India.
Officials in Baku, whose names were not disclosed, said that this decision would not affect Azerbaijan's political course, but stated that this step contradicts multilateral diplomacy and the spirit of the SCO. According to the APA agency, in response to this process, Pakistan rejected Armenia's application for membership in the organization.
Currently, full members of the SCO are India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus. Also, observer states (Afghanistan and Mongolia) operate within the organization, as well as six countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey, and Sri Lanka - as dialogue partners.
This situation means that the internal balance of the SCO will be further tested. The direction of the organization's development depends on future negotiations and decisions.
