Schoolchildren in Lithuania are being trained to operate drones.

In Lithuania, modern educational programs are encompassing increasingly new areas. At a school in Kedaynyay, located in the central part of the country, students aged 10 to 14 are being trained to use and operate drones. Journalists visited the school and witnessed that classes are being conducted based on the correct manual and modern equipment.

Valdas Jankauskas, director of the Lithuanian informal education agency, noted that today at least 10-15% of students can be expected to study engineering or, possibly, defense in the future. According to him, such programs not only enhance students' knowledge and skills but also play an important role in determining their future professional direction.

According to TASS, the students are gaining experience in conditions similar to real military training. They are learning to control drones using special helmets. At the same time, some parts of drones are being manufactured using 3D printers in the school. Some of the students participating in the exercises are also getting acquainted with the use of drones on the battlefields through the mass media.

This program is funded by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Defense, and local authorities of Lithuania. The total cost of the program is estimated at 3.3 million euros. Currently, about 300 students are involved in these classes.

According to The Guardian, the program is being organized in separate directions for different age categories. For example, 8-10-year-old 3-4-grade students are learning to assemble and operate simple drones, while older students - that is, middle school-aged ones - are learning to design drone parts, manufacture them on a 3D printer, and assemble and effectively operate more complex models.
