Strong typhoon in Taiwan: 14 dead

At least 14 people have died in Taiwan due to Typhoon Ragasa, and more than 120 are missing. Wind and water damaged bridges, homes, and roads. In Hualien county, floodwaters covered the lower floors of buildings.

In Hong Kong, strong winds and rain led to the closure of schools and shops. Hundreds of flights were canceled, and authorities urged people to stay at home.

In Guangdong province in southern China, more than 370,000 people were evacuated due to the threat. Heavy rain is expected in the coming hours, raising fears of floods.

Earlier, the typhoon caused damage to the northern islands of the Philippines. Experts call it the strongest storm of the year. People and authorities are being called on to provide help.
