Turkmenistan proposes to abandon wage and pension increases

An important issue of the standard of living of the population of Turkmenistan was discussed. At the meeting of the People's Council, one of the proposals of great importance in the direction of the country's social policy was raised. At the meeting chaired by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the honorary elder Yozmurod Otamurodov emphasized the need to abandon the practice of annual increases in wages, pensions, benefits, and scholarships by the state.

In his opinion, today the social and living conditions of the population are at a sufficiently high level. Therefore, a regular increase in payments is not required. In his speech, Otamurodov added that "citizens of no country in the world have been given such continuous benefits."

The honorary elder noted that if this initiative is implemented, it will be possible to direct the saved funds to the development of the country and other important areas. He asked the President to support this proposal. President Berdimuhamedov expressed his gratitude to Otamurodov, who spoke from the podium, and reacted positively to his remarks.

As local media reported, this initiative sparked heated discussions within the Turkmen community. Some citizens agree with this opinion, while others say that such changes can negatively affect their daily lives. At the same time, the state-owned publication "Turkmenportal" closed the comments under this message, which caused even more questions among the public.

Currently, the minimum pension in Turkmenistan is 550 manat. This is approximately 27.5 US dollars. The average benefit is 520 manat, which is around 26 dollars. Officials have not yet commented on the proposal to abandon the practice of payment indexation.

This event in the country is of great importance not only economically, but also socially. Because in Turkmen society, many people live by relying on state support. Therefore, this decision, if implemented, could lead to serious changes in the lives of thousands of families.
