Seven Buddhist monks died in Sri Lanka

A major tragedy related to the Na Uyana monastery, located in the Pansiyagama region of Sri Lanka, was recorded. According to reports, seven Buddhist monks lost their lives in a cable car accident that occurred around 9:00 PM local time on September 24th. This was reported by the Daily Mirror.

According to confirmed information, among the deceased are citizens of Russia, Romania, and India. The bodies of the victims were transported to Gokarella and Kurunegala hospitals.

At the time of the incident, a total of 13 monks were returning to the monastery after performing religious rites at the holy site. Two monks received minor injuries after jumping out of the train car, and four others were taken to the hospital in serious condition.

According to preliminary information from official sources, the tragedy occurred due to a break in the main cable pulling the cable. Currently, the Pansiyam police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
