The Taliban government has imposed another new restriction in Kandahar, Afghanistan. According to the new rule, now women can only visit female doctors in dental institutions. The use of the services of male dentists was strictly prohibited.
Foreign media reported that Taliban representatives entered several dental clinics and expelled women treated by male doctors. It is said that this decision applies equally to both state and private medical centers.
As is known, since the Taliban seized power in 2021, women's rights in the country have been increasingly restricted. For example, girls were prohibited from studying in schools and higher educational institutions, the opportunity to work in many government agencies was eliminated, and access to entertainment venues and public places was prohibited.
International organizations and human rights defenders strongly criticize this decision. Experts emphasize that this restriction could violate women's rights to healthcare services, deprive them of medical care, and further exacerbate gender inequality in society.
Experts believe that such restrictions not only undermine women's personal freedoms but can also negatively impact the social development of the entire country.
