The number of deaths in the Philippines due to heavy monsoon rains and typhoons has reached 26. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), nearly 2.8 million people have been affected by the disaster. This was reported by the PNA agency.
Officials stated that during the incident, 33 people were injured and another 14 citizens have been listed as missing. It was also reported that more than 8,900 households were damaged.
The typhoon "Ragasa," which caused the disaster, formed as a tropical storm in the Pacific Ocean on September 16 and developed into a super typhoon upon reaching the northeastern coast. Wind speeds reached up to 260 kilometers per hour.
In this regard, the governments of the Philippines, Taiwan, and Hong Kong took measures to alert the population and prepare for emergencies.
