An astonishing event in China left everyone stunned. A 48-year-old woman accidentally fell into an abandoned deep well and survived for 54 hours among snakes and mosquitoes. This was reported by South China Morning Post.
The incident occurred on September 13 in a forest area near Quanzhou city, Fujian province. The woman accidentally fell into the well while walking. Her family searched throughout the night but found no results. Therefore, on September 14, she was officially reported missing.
Emergency rescue operations began on September 15. After the woman’s son contacted special services, a 10-person team equipped with drones started the search. According to the team leader Du Xiaoxiang, around 13:45 they heard a faint crying sound and continued searching in that direction, eventually finding the well hidden inside the bushes.
The woman herself recounted the terrifying moments she experienced:
Rescuers found the woman tightly clinging to the walls of the well. She was immediately taken to Xinzhi Hospital and then transferred to Quanzhou First Hospital.
According to doctors' diagnosis, she had two broken ribs and a small lung contusion. Also, due to clinging to the well walls for a long time, she had severe wounds and injuries on her hands. Doctors report that her condition is stable and she is expected to fully recover within a few days.
