Spain has banned arms supplies to Israel through the US

According to El Pais, the Spanish government has banned the transfer of weapons to Israel by U.S. ships and aircraft through their military bases in the country.

According to the country's officials, this refers to the Rota (Cadis province) and Moron de la Frontera (Sevilla province) bases. According to the new decree, the ban applies not only to ships and aircraft heading directly to Israel, but also to those whose final destination after intermediate stops in other countries is Israel.

At the same time, the kingdom will not yet conduct inspections of US military aircraft and ships stationed in Spain. However, analysts say that the Pentagon may not disclose the contents of the cargo. It is noted that in such a case, there is a possibility of undermining trust between the allies.

Spain has recently been pursuing a more stringent policy towards Israel due to the situation in the Gaza Strip. The country's government had already stopped supplying arms to Israel.

Currently, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is putting forward a number of more decisive measures. In particular, it is proposed to introduce a complete arms embargo, prohibit the entry of Israeli officials suspected of war crimes into the country, cancel military cooperation, and expand humanitarian aid to Palestinians.
