Mass protests in France began against the budget cuts introduced throughout the country and the government's new economic policies. According to trade unions, more than 250,000 people are expected to participate in such demonstrations, and 76,000 police officers have been mobilized to maintain public order.
Protests began mainly in Paris, Marseille, Nantes, Bordeaux, and Ajache, followed by demonstrations in Lyon, Brest, Rennes, and other cities. The largest march will take place in Paris, where 20,000 to 40,000 people are expected to attend.
Demonstrations are negatively affecting public transport. Several metro stations in Paris have been closed, and there are interruptions in tram and train services. There were also obstacles to the movement of buses.
Large industrial enterprises in France, including the Stellantis and Michelin factories, were also blocked by protesters. Changes are also observed in the education sector, some schools have closed, and 27% of teachers have joined the demonstrations.
The expansion of protests is expected to have a serious impact on the socio-economic situation in the country, which indicates the great attention paid to the success of the ongoing reforms.
