A terrible tragedy occurred in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh as a result of a strong landslide. According to India Today, a private bus carrying 30 passengers in the Bilaspur district was completely buried by an avalanche at the foot of the mountains.
According to reports, the landslide occurred near the Ballyu Bridge. A bus traveling from Marotan city on the Kalaul route was trapped under a layer of soil that had shifted after heavy rains. Currently, the Emergency Situations Service and rescuers are conducting intensive search operations.
According to official confirmation, the bodies of 18 people have been found so far. The search work has not yet been fully completed, as the danger of landslides still persists in the area.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and expressed his deep condolences to the families of the deceased. He also announced that compensation will be paid to the families of the victims from the Prime Minister's Assistance Fund.
According to the local weather service, due to heavy rains in the region, the number of landslides has increased sharply in recent days. The government urged citizens to be cautious and not to move in mountainous areas.
