At a large military parade held in Pyongyang, North Korea presented its new intercontinental ballistic missile called “Hwasong-20”. According to the Korean Central Telegraph Agency, this weapon was described as “the most powerful nuclear strategic weapon”.
The parade was organized in honor of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party of Korea. During the event, the country’s leader Kim Jong Un delivered a speech, calling on the Armed Forces of the DPRK to become an “invincible army capable of eliminating any threat”.
Experts believe that the Hwasong-20 missile gives North Korea the capability to strike targets within the territory of the United States. During the parade, the DPRK military showcased not only this missile but also new systems such as hypersonic weapons.
In addition, Russian military representatives took part in the ceremony in Pyongyang. The event was also attended by Chinese Premier Li Qiang, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam, and Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.
