Travelers’ Choice: The world’s most beloved cities announced

One of the world’s most famous travel magazines — Condé Nast Traveler — has published its annual ranking of the world’s most beloved cities. According to the publication, more than 757,000 travelers took part in the survey.

The ranking is compiled every year and includes two categories — large cities and small travel destinations. Both are evaluated based on beauty, infrastructure, and visitor comfort.

Tokyo tops the list of major cities

This year, Tokyo took first place among global metropolises. The capital of Japan impressed visitors with its blend of ancient temples, modern skyscrapers, and Michelin-starred restaurants. It is also recognized as one of the best gastronomic destinations in the world.

The second spot also went to Japan — the ancient city of Kyoto. Cape Town, South Africa, rounded out the top three. Other cities that made the top ten include Singapore, Seoul, Paris, Vancouver, Edinburgh, Montreal, and Phnom Penh (Cambodia).

Winner among small cities — Victoria, Canada

In the small cities category, Victoria, located on Canada’s western coast, took first place. Many tourists visiting Vancouver spend a day in Victoria to enjoy nature, relax in spa hotels, or take a ferry ride across Swartz Bay.

Second place went to the Mexican coastal city of Puerto Vallarta, while third place was claimed by Italy’s historic and artistic Florence.

Also included in the top ten were Lucerne (Switzerland), San Miguel de Allende (Mexico), San Sebastián and Palma de Mallorca (Spain), Galway (Ireland), Valletta (Malta), and Hobart (Australia).

Experts note that this year’s ranking reflects travelers’ growing interest in destinations that combine tradition, tranquility, and modernity. Tokyo and Victoria have become vivid examples of that harmony.
