Another world-renowned diamond was discovered in Russia - a huge diamond weighing 340 carats was mined in the Arkhangelsk region. Experts included this stone among the five largest diamonds found in the history of modern Russia.
According to the data, the size of the stone is 50×39.4×24.8 millimeters, which is one of the largest natural crystals found during industrial-scale mining. According to the company's information, this rare stone is very pure and has high transparency, and its crystalline structure is very stable.
"Experts classified this crystal as a rare diamond. Their purity and transparency are very rare in nature - such stones account for only 2% of natural diamonds," the official statement said.
This rare stone was discovered at the Vladimir Grib deposit, where diamond mining has been carried out since 2013. The mine is one of the largest industrial facilities in Russia and leads the country in annual production.
According to historical records, the largest diamond found in the world is a stone called "Cullinan," which was discovered on January 25, 1905, in South Africa. This stone, weighing 3106 carats, was later called the "Star of Africa."
