China built a solar panel farm that is half the size of Moscow

China has set another world record in the field of renewable energy. The country built a huge solar energy farm covering half of Moscow's territory. This was reported by The New York Times.

According to the data, the Talatan solar panel on the Tibetan Plateau is located at an altitude of almost 3 kilometers above sea level, where solar panels occupy an area of 420 square kilometers. This region has become one of the largest and highest solar power centers in the world.

Experts note that the chosen location for the solar farm is naturally unique - the air here is fragile, the temperature is low, and the sun's rays are very bright, which significantly increases energy efficiency. Wind turbines are also installed in the nearby desert and mountain plains to replenish solar energy.

Within the framework of the Talatan project, hydroelectric dams were also built, located along mountain rivers. Through high-voltage power transmission lines, this clean energy is delivered to cities and factories more than 1600 kilometers away.

The Chinese government considers this project a "prototype of the future energy system." The goal is to provide the region with affordable and renewable energy and use this resource in high-power industries, such as artificial intelligence centers.

Currently, the Talatan solar power plant has a capacity of 16,930 megawatts. Experts expect that by 2028 the area of panels will double, and by 2030 the volume of energy production will increase fivefold.

An additional 4,700 megawatts of wind power and 7,380 megawatts of hydropower systems operate nearby - which could make the Tibetan Plateau the world's largest green energy hub.

As a reminder, China previously produced the world's largest floating wind turbine. Its wingspan is equivalent to seven football fields and operates with a capacity of 16 megawatts. The new device will be tested in the Guangxi-Zhuang Autonomous Region and will be connected to the network in the near future.

These major Chinese energy projects are expected to further strengthen the country's leading position in the field of environmental sustainability and technology in the future.
