In the 4th round of the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona played away against Club Brugge in Belgium. In an exciting and dramatic match, the teams drew 3:3. But the event that caused more discussion than a big debate occurred before the game.
It has been reported that a bus carrying Barcelona fans from Spain to the stadium caught fire on the road. According to witnesses, the cause of the fire was the burning fireworks inside the bus. The fire, which ignited in the fuel system, quickly engulfed the entire interior.
There were no reports of serious injuries as a result of the incident, but fans were evacuated and were late for the match. Security measures have been strengthened around the Yan Breydel Stadium.
Barcelona reacted to the incident, stating the following about the fans' condition:
- The club announces that the bus reserved for fans in Bruges has been canceled due to a fireworks issue. Now they will have to reach their destination independently," the official statement said.
The Catalan club noted the situation with regret and stated that it would take strict measures to ensure the safety of fans in future trips.
At the same time, Barcelona emphasized the need to maintain a culture of peace and responsibility both on and off the field.
Thus, if the draw at "Brugge" was important from a sporting point of view, then the incident with the bus fire became a memorable event for fans.
