Super Typhoon has hit central and eastern parts of the Philippines with heavy rain and strong wind. Electricity went out in the Bikol region, and the typhoon is expected to reach northern Luzon. At least two people have died: one drowned on Catanduanes island, and a woman was found under debris of a collapsed house in Catbalogan city.
More than one million people were moved to safe areas. Wind speed reached 185 km/h, with gusts up to 230 km/h.
Several airports, including Bikol and Sangley near Metro Manila, were temporarily closed for safety. The defense minister urged residents to follow evacuation orders. About 2,000 military personnel were sent to help.
The typhoon is the 21st to hit the Philippines this year, striking again after Typhoon Kalmegi. It will move north from Sunday to Tuesday and then reach the Taiwan Strait. Officials advise people to follow safety measures.
