What does the stone meteorite that recently flew over Moscow look like?

Scientists discovered the first specimens of the mysterious object, which flew over the skies of Moscow, Podmoskove, Novgorod, and Tver regions on October 27 (see the video here). The debate about the origin of the celestial body is over. This was probably a meteorite belonging to ordinary chondrites (stone meteorites) of the LL6 group.

Photos depicting the fragments found were published on the GEOXI Telegram channel of the Russian Academy of Sciences. "We did this: a meteorite was found! "Yes, it was a meteorite," the statement said.

The V. I. Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry later announced that the meteorite would be given an official name, usually associated with its location. It is noted that the research was conducted by specialists of the Meteorology and Space Chemistry Laboratory of the GEOXI of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Also, samples of meteorites are kept in the Museum of World History (Dedovsk) and the Ural Federal University (Yekaterinburg). The search for fragments of the stone body continues.
