The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported that Kadyrbek Atambayev, the son of the country's former president Almazbek Atambayev, and several of his supporters are accused of organizing mass riots.
According to the investigation, after the announcement of the results of the parliamentary elections, these individuals planned to make unconstitutional demands and attempt to seize administrative buildings, broadcasting facilities, law enforcement agencies, weapons depots, and penitentiary institutions.
During the searches, weapons, ammunition, grenades, communication devices, documents related to the plan of illegal actions and their financing, narcotics, and cash in the amount of 150 thousand dollars (about 1.87 billion soums) were seized.
Early elections to the Kyrgyz parliament will be held on November 30 of this year. Previously, these elections were scheduled for November 2026. However, on September 25, the incumbent deputies announced their voluntary resignation.
