The Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiyev, strongly urged representatives of the Chinese company China Road to learn the state language. He announced this during a working meeting dedicated to the construction of roads in the Issyk-Kul region.
During the meeting, Tashiyev inquired about which company is constructing the Barskan-Karakul highway. A representative of China Road company responded in Russian, confirming that the construction of this road is their responsibility.
Following this, Kamchibek Tashiyev sharply criticized the fact that although the Chinese company has been operating in Kyrgyzstan for almost 20 years, some of its representatives still do not know the state language. He emphasized that since foreign specialists have been working in the country for many years, it is necessary to treat the local language with respect and learn it.
"Why haven't you learned the Kyrgyz language yet? China Road has been operating in Kyrgyzstan for 20 years. Is it impossible to learn the state language in such a long time? Learn to speak Kyrgyz!" he said firmly.
The representative of the Chinese company accepted Tashiev's reprimand in silence, nodded his head, and agreed with his demands.
The deadlines for the construction of a 75-kilometer highway were also discussed at the meeting. The company representative stated that, according to the current contract, the project should be completed by September 1, 2028. However, he promised to try to complete the road construction ahead of schedule - by the end of 2027, by increasing the pace of work.
This situation once again demonstrated the serious approach of the Kyrgyz leadership to the issue of the state language and discipline and responsibility in large infrastructure projects.
