In Iran, the economic crisis forced citizens to take to the streets

In Iran, protests that began due to economic difficulties were accompanied by violence in several regions. According to local media and human rights groups, several people have died and dozens have been injured in recent days. These protests are among the largest in the country in the past three years.
In the western province of Lorestan, protesters attacked a police building and several service vehicles were set on fire. Clashes with security forces also occurred in Lordegan and other cities. In some areas, protesters were shot and some were arrested.
The protests started because of the devaluation of the national currency and the sharp rise in prices. Merchants, students, and citizens closed markets for several days to protest the government’s economic policies. The unrest spread to other regions of the country.
The government has strengthened security measures and said it is ready to engage in dialogue with protesters. Officials said meetings would be held with representatives of merchants and trade unions. The economy has faced difficulties for years due to sanctions and inflation.
