Trump speaks on Maduro’s role in drug trafficking

U.S. President Donald Trump held a press conference about an operation carried out with the aim of overthrowing Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his government. In his remarks, he spoke about Maduro’s poor governance of the Venezuelan people and his involvement in drug trafficking.
According to Trump, Maduro, as an illegitimate dictator, committed major crimes against the American people and ran drug trafficking. “Maduro led the Cartel de los Soles and caused the deaths of thousands of Americans. Maduro’s rule is over; he is no longer president,” Trump said.
The U.S. leader also said he plans to invest in Venezuela’s oil industry and expressed confidence that major companies will spend billions of dollars to restore the country’s oil infrastructure. “We will make the Venezuelan people rich and independent. We will make them happy,” Trump stated.
These statements signal a new and significant shift in U.S.-Venezuela relations and clearly outline policy regarding the country’s future.
