Trump threatens another strike on Venezuela

U.S. President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of a second military strike against Venezuela. He made the statement after Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was captured by the United States. According to Trump, if the remaining members of Maduro’s government do not cooperate with the U.S., military pressure may continue.
Nicolas Maduro is currently being held in custody in the United States, and court proceedings are expected to begin on charges related to drug trafficking. The Venezuelan government has described his capture as illegal and stated that it still considers Maduro the country’s legitimate president. Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has been announced as the interim leader.
Trump emphasized that the main goal of the United States is to stop drug trafficking in Venezuela and restructure the oil sector. He also said that the large flow of migrants from Venezuela to the U.S. influenced these decisions. U.S. officials say Venezuela’s economy must be taken out of the control of forces that are contrary to U.S. interests.
Despite recent events, the situation in Venezuela’s capital Caracas remains relatively calm. Some citizens are stocking up on food due to concerns, but city life has not come to a complete halt. On the international stage, debates over the legality of U.S. actions have intensified, and the UN Security Council is preparing to discuss the issue.
