President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as part of a working visit to Davos, met with Adebayo Ogunlesi, a member of BlackRock’s board of directors and a senior managing director. The talks reviewed specific areas for expanding the world’s largest investment fund’s involvement in Uzbekistan’s economy. This was reported by podrobno.uz reports .

BlackRock holds a leading position in the asset management market, and its investments cover nearly all key sectors of the global economy. During the negotiations in Switzerland, emphasis was placed on the company acquiring stakes in a number of major Uzbek enterprises and on establishing joint investment mechanisms.

The parties also supported initiatives to draw on the fund’s international experience to improve Uzbekistan’s investment climate. The interest of such a major investor in the country’s projects is seen as an important signal of the market’s openness and reliability for other global investors as well.

Meanwhile, the Davos forum is taking place amid proposals by BlackRock CEO Larry Fink to fundamentally change the venue of the World Economic Forum. Instead of the traditional Davos, he suggested considering sites in fast-growing regions, mentioning Jakarta, Buenos Aires, or Detroit as alternatives.

According to reports, since 1971 the forum’s location has changed only once—when it was moved to New York in 2002. This year’s Davos summit brought together leaders from 60 countries and top executives from more than 800 major companies. Although discussions of the crisis in Ukraine were initially planned, the agenda was revised, and one of the main topics became the situation around Greenland.
