Trump and Pentagon chief address school attack in Minob

US President Donald Trump, while speaking with journalists aboard Air Force One, asserted that Iran is responsible for the strike on a girls' school in the city of Minob. According to the head of state, the Iranian side lacks sufficient precision in using its weapons, and it was they who attacked the civilian area. While making this accusation, Trump did not provide any evidence to support his claims.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who was with the president, also supported this view. He stated that the Pentagon is investigating the incident, but the habit of targeting civilians is characteristic of Iran. Nevertheless, the situation remains complex, as international publications and even some official US sources are putting forward conflicting information.
About 180 people died as a result of this tragedy, which occurred on February 28, 2025. Influential publications such as CNN and The New York Times reported that US military forces were conducting an operation in that area and may have struck the school by mistake. According to NBC News sources, the Trump administration even confirmed to Congress that American military forces had struck the area where the school in Minob was located. Currently, the Pentagon is limiting its comments to stating that an official investigation is ongoing, while the Iranian side continues to blame Washington for this attack.
