Trump wants to reimpose Russia oil sanctions

US President Donald Trump has said he plans to reimpose sanctions on Russian oil once global oil prices stabilize. In an interview with NBC News, the president explained that he wants to see oil available worldwide, including in the United States.

Trump stated that the sanctions would return after the current crisis ends. He emphasized his desire for sufficient oil supplies across the world and for America itself. The comments come amid ongoing discussions about energy markets and international trade restrictions.

Earlier, the US had granted a temporary exception allowing exports of Russian oil and petroleum products shipped by March 12. This new license is set to remain valid until April 12, 2026. However, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent described the measure as short-term and temporary, saying it would not bring significant benefits to Moscow.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov previously noted that the number of potential buyers for Russian oil had increased after the US eased some restrictions. The developments reflect the complex balance between energy needs, geopolitical tensions, and efforts to stabilize global oil markets.
