Flight canceled in Austria because of a single bee

An unexpected and seemingly minor incident in Austria led to the cancellation of an entire flight, Aero Inside reports.
The incident occurred at Innsbruck Airport while an Austrian Airlines aircraft was preparing for a flight to Vienna. Passengers had boarded, and all preparations for takeoff were nearly complete.
As the plane accelerated on the runway—reaching approximately 150 km/h (93 mph)—the crew noticed conflicting readings between the airspeed sensors. This is considered a serious signal regarding flight safety.
There were a total of 107 passengers on board, and in accordance with safety regulations, the liner was immediately stopped. The crew decided to cancel the flight without dismissing the potential risk.
After the passengers were safely evacuated, technical specialists began investigating the cause of the malfunction. During the inspection, it was discovered that a small bee had entered an important airflow sensor.
This tiny insect became lodged inside the device, disrupting the sensors' operation and causing incorrect speed data to be reported. In aviation, such errors can pose significant risks.
Specialists emphasized that this sensor is one of the most critical systems for a safe flight. Therefore, even the smallest malfunction leads to major decisions.
Consequently, a single bee changed the fate of the entire flight, and the planned journey for the passengers did not take place.
