Washington Demands Iran Stop Attacks in the Strait of Hormuz

Political tension around the Strait of Hormuz, which is vital for global energy security, has reached a new stage. The United States has submitted a new draft resolution to the UN Security Council aimed at curbing military actions carried out by Iran. Zamin.uz studied the content of this strategic document and the details of recent events in the region.
New Demands and Trump's Firm Position
Statement from the State Department
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that this draft resolution was developed directly under the instruction of President Donald Trump. The document envisages imposing a number of strict obligations on official Tehran:
Immediately stop armed attacks on ships and illegal levies;
Disclose the exact coordinates of mines planted in the maritime area and assist in their neutralization;
Support the establishment of a special maritime corridor for humanitarian aid in the region.
Regional Solidarity and Call to the International Community
Co-authors and the Risk of Veto
Not only the US but also key countries in the region participated in the preparation of this international document — Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar also actively participated. Marco Rubio called on the world's leading nations, Russia and China, to support this initiative and vote for the safety of global shipping.
Recall that the previous draft, proposed by Bahrain in early April and involving the use of force, was rejected by Russia, China, and France. On April 7, Moscow and Beijing vetoed it.
Escalation of the Situation: Events of May 4
The emergence of the new resolution on the agenda is not accidental. According to reports, on May 4 of this year, the Iranian side attempted to attack American military destroyers and civilian ships for the first time since the ceasefire regime announced on April 8. Important energy facilities of the United Arab Emirates were also targeted. Such incidents further increase the danger in international waterways.
