It was reported that at least three tourists died this morning, May 8, following the eruption of the Dukono volcano in Indonesia. This was reported by the BBC.

Experts had previously warned tourists not to approach the 4-kilometer danger zone around the crater. Despite this, some travelers continued to climb the 1,335-meter mountain.

Rescuers searched for a group of 20 people who went missing after the eruption, found survivors, and brought them to a safe area. However, the identification of the victims' bodies is still ongoing.

According to official data, at least five people were injured. During the eruption, a column of ash rose up to 10 kilometers high. Initial reports suggest that foreign tourists, including Singaporeans, are among the deceased.

It is reported that Dukono is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia, with hundreds of instances of activity observed in recent months. It currently remains under surveillance as a high-risk area.

Rescue operations are ongoing, and officials are working to clarify the details of the incident.
