Ranking of countries with the highest water consumption published

Central Asian countries have entered the top ten in the global ranking for per capita water consumption. Turkmenistan leads the ranking, while Uzbekistan ranks third among regional countries. This was reported in the global water usage index published by the Worldometer portal.
According to the data, Uzbekistan leads the region in terms of total annual water consumption with 54.56 billion cubic meters.
The following countries are ranked next:
— Turkmenistan — 27.9 billion cubic meters;
— Kazakhstan — 22.77 billion cubic meters;
— Tajikistan — 11.49 billion cubic meters.
The lowest figure belongs to Kyrgyzstan, where annual water consumption is approximately 8 billion cubic meters.
Turkmenistan was recorded as the absolute global leader in average daily water consumption per capita. There, one person consumes 15,445 liters of water per day.
The top ten countries that use the most water resources also include Chile with 5,880 liters and Guyana with 5,284 liters.
The following countries occupy the subsequent positions:
— Uzbekistan — 4,778 liters;
— Tajikistan — 4,460 liters;
— Kyrgyzstan — 4,153 liters.
At the same time, the USA, Iran, Estonia, and Azerbaijan are also included in the top 10 list. In Kazakhstan, the average daily water consumption is one of the lowest in the region, amounting to 3,397 liters per person.
The most efficient water usage is observed in African countries, especially in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. There, one person consumes only 32 liters of water per day.
Experts believe that against this background, measures against the wasteful use of water in Uzbekistan are being strengthened, and state programs aimed at modernizing canals are being further activated.
