Samarkand to restrict entry during EU summit April 3–5
Samarkand will be closed to vehicle entry from April 3 to 5 due to the EU–Central Asia summit, Autostrada.uz reported.

The first summit between European Union leaders and the heads of five Central Asian nations (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan) will take place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The event will also include the Samarkand Climate Forum 2025.

European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will represent the EU. The summit will be hosted by Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and held at the Silk Road Samarkand congress center.

To ensure safety and convenience for guests, vehicle entry into the city will be restricted for the duration of the summit. Transit vehicles will be redirected via bypass roads, and residents and visitors are advised to postpone trips to Samarkand during these dates.
