A draft resolution aimed at ensuring road safety in Uzbekistan has been published. These changes and additions are aimed at further improving the road traffic system and ensuring safety in the country.

According to the decree, from January 1, 2026, the use of cars that have been in production for 50 years or more will be prohibited. Previously, their re-registration and deregistration were established, with the exception of vehicles classified as "antiques."

At the same time, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and the khokimiyats of the regions and the city of Tashkent, will organize the "Green Light" competition in three stages in order to actively promote traffic rules among schoolchildren and neighborhood youth.

Expenses for holding the "Green Light" competitions and organizing the "Most Exemplary Road Safety Area" review-competition are covered by the funds of the Republican Fund "Safe Road and Safe Pedestrian."

These decisions were made to reduce road traffic risks, ensure public safety, and create a comfortable and safe environment for all passengers.
