China’s XPeng company has launched mass production of flying cars with vertical takeoff and landing capability at the world’s first “smart factory,” Xinhua reported.
According to reports, the factory is located in southern China and produces a hybrid vehicle called the Land Aircraft Carrier. It consists of a six-wheeled car and a detachable electric flight module.
The plant has an annual capacity of 10,000 flying units, with 5,000 currently being produced on a trial basis. Once fully operational, the factory will be able to assemble one flying unit every 30 minutes.
XPeng stated that it has already received nearly 5,000 pre-orders, and mass deliveries are expected to begin in 2026.
The flying car can operate in both automatic and manual modes, performing takeoff and landing at the push of a button. It is about 5.5 meters long and can drive on regular roads with a standard driver’s license.
Experts say this technology could mark the beginning of a new era of fast, eco-friendly, and safe intercity transportation.
