Over the past year, interest in electric vehicles has sharply increased in our country. According to official data, a total of 47,264 electric vehicles were imported into Uzbekistan between January and October 2025. Their total value amounted to $544.1 million. This is higher than not only last year's indicator, but also the overall result for 2023-2024.
Analysis shows that the import of electric vehicles has almost doubled in one year. For example, in the same period of 2024, 22,220 electric vehicles were imported into the country, and this year this figure has doubled.
The figures for October are particularly noteworthy - 6,933 electric vehicles were imported from abroad this month alone. Their total value reached $71.4 million. This is 1.74 times more than in October 2024. However, this is 4,601 less than the 11,534 electric vehicles registered in September.
Interestingly, the average price of each imported electric car is also increasing. According to the October report, the average cost of each car was 10.3 thousand dollars. For comparison, in the same month last year this figure was 5.2 thousand dollars, and in September of this year - 9.9 thousand dollars.
According to the Customs Committee, a total of 24,091 electric vehicles were imported into Uzbekistan in 2024, with a total value of $224.7 million. In 2023, 16,084 electric vehicles were imported, however, although the number of cars at that time was small, the total purchase cost was quite high - $433.8 million.
At the same time, in January-October 2025, the import of gasoline cars decreased by half, and the import of hybrid cars decreased by almost six times.
According to experts, this trend indicates an increasing demand for environmentally friendly vehicles in the country. Electric vehicles are not only economically efficient but also play an important role in environmental protection.
