Donald Trump may pardon 250 people for the 250th anniversary of the United States

According to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. President Donald Trump is considering pardoning 250 individuals as part of the country's 250th anniversary celebrations. The official announcement is expected on June 14, Trump's birthday, or during the July 4 Independence Day festivities. These plans are currently in the preliminary stages, and no final decision has been made, reports Cointelegraph.com reports .

Last year, more than 16,000 official pardon requests were submitted to the president. On his first day back in office, Trump pardoned over 1,500 people involved in the 2021 U.S. Capitol riot. Currently, crypto-industry representatives and their supporters are also seeking pardons from the president.

FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried was sentenced to 25 years in prison for charges related to the collapse of his crypto exchange. Although he campaigned for a pardon via social media, Trump rejected this possibility earlier this year. Additionally, Samourai Wallet developer Keonne Rodriguez is hoping for a pardon, and Trump has promised to review his case.

Another issue in the spotlight for the crypto community is the case of Tornado Cash founders Roman Storm and Roman Semenov. Storm was found guilty of operating an unlicensed money transmission business, while Semenov is wanted by the FBI. Crypto activists argue that software developers should not be held liable for the actions of third parties.
