Climate change is increasingly affecting human health. As heatwaves intensify, scientists have begun to study how the brain responds to these conditions.
According to experts, extreme temperatures are causing an increase in diseases such as stroke, migraine and sclerosis. Professor Sanjay Sisodiya of the University of London, a leading researcher in this field, states: “Climate change strongly affects not only heart or lung health, but also brain function.”
Scientists believe that excessive heat disrupts the brain’s temperature regulation system, resulting in worsened sleep, behavior, and decision-making processes. For some, this leads to depression and sadness.
In addition, there is also a risk for pregnant women: according to studies, heatwaves may cause premature births and developmental issues in children.
Experts warn: “Today, only people with neurological diseases are suffering, but tomorrow this could become a serious issue even for healthy individuals.”
