Young Driver Hits Student and Flees in Tashkent

A road accident occurred in Tashkent city, injuring a school student. The incident is said to have been exacerbated by the driver's irresponsible actions.
It was reported that the incident took place on April 20 on Keles roadway street in the Olmazor district of the capital. Footage shows two children crossing the road when one of them fell under a car.
As a result of swift measures taken by traffic police officers of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate, the driver's identity was established. He turned out to be a 19-year-old young man.
The driver stated that after noticing the children, he honked, and one of them stopped, but the second child got distracted and unexpectedly ran into the road. He attempted to avoid a collision but was unsuccessful.
He also added that he continued driving in a state of panic and shock after the incident. Later, after stopping and regaining composure, he decided to return to the scene of the accident, but by that time, the victim had already been taken away by ambulance services.
Shortly thereafter, the driver contacted law enforcement agencies and reported the incident.
Currently, relevant documents have been drawn up regarding this incident under Article 133 (causing bodily harm or material damage as a result of violating traffic rules) and Article 137 (leaving the scene of a road traffic accident) of the Code of Administrative Liability.
Experts emphasized that the case will be reviewed administratively or criminally, depending on the degree of the victim's injuries. If the bodily harm is minor, administrative measures will be taken; otherwise, a criminal case may be initiated.
This incident once again calls on drivers to be vigilant and strictly adhere to traffic rules.
