The Chinese Football Association (FFA) has reached an important stage in the process of selecting a new head coach for the national team. The acceptance of applications was completed, and the last three coaches from the seven candidates were selected. Among them are the legend of Italian football, Fabio Cannavaro, local specialist Zheng Zhi, and coach of the Uzbekistan national team, Timur Kapadze.
It turns out that the IFA is currently seriously considering this trio. Most interestingly, according to local media, Timur Kapadze is cited as the main focus and priority candidate. The organization has already officially expressed interest in him, and it is reported that preliminary discussions have already taken place.
The aspects that distinguished Kapadze in the qualifying round were due to several factors:
- annual salary not less than 3 million euros;
- be young and regarded as a promising specialist;
- Sufficient knowledge and experience in Asian and European football;
- coaching potential accumulated in international competitions.
Surprisingly, Kapadze did not submit his application for this position. On the contrary, the Chinese Football Association directly contacted him and included him in the list of candidates. This once again confirms the serious interest of the IFA in his candidacy.
The choice of a new coach will also affect the strategy of the Chinese national team for the next four years. This will be important not only for preparing for the World Cup qualifiers, but also for qualifying for the major World Cup in 2030.
Timur Kapadze is currently playing for the Uzbekistan national team. However, his contract is expected to expire soon. Therefore, it is said that he is seriously studying the proposal from China. If the negotiations are successful, Kapadze could officially take over as the head coach of the Chinese national team starting next month.
