Former Russian national team midfielder Vladimir Bystrov recalled a controversial goal episode during a match against Estonia. In the Euro 2008 qualifiers, the goal was officially attributed to Aleksandr Kerzhakov.
According to Bystrov, he intervened in the situation as a precaution, thinking a defender was approaching. "The ball had already crossed the line, so I cautiously guided it into the goal and ran to celebrate with Kerzhakov," he stated.
These remarks were shared on journalist Ivan Karpov's Telegram channel. It is worth noting that earlier reports indicated FIFA had concluded that a goal scored against Germany 20 years ago, originally credited to Andrey Arshavin, should be reassigned to Aleksandr Kerzhakov.
If this decision is officially confirmed by the Russian Football Union, Artyom Dzyuba will lose the title of the national team's all-time top scorer: both he and Kerzhakov would then have 31 goals each. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
