Benfica selects Marco Silva to replace Mourinho

Portuguese club "Benfica" has found a suitable candidate to replace head coach Jose Mourinho. The Lisbon side wants to recruit Marco Silva, who is currently managing England's "Fulham". Goal.com reports this.

This situation could seriously interfere with the plans of London's "Chelsea", which is searching for a new manager.

Despite having a contract until 2027, reports of Mourinho's return to "Real Madrid" have increased. For this reason, "Benfica" management aims to fill the potentially vacant position with Silva.

The Londoners had also included this specialist in their list of main candidates after the departure of Liam Rosenior.

"Chelsea" sporting directors are looking for an experienced coach who can stabilize the team. Currently, the team is being temporarily managed by Calum McFarlane.

While Marco Silva has drawn attention for establishing a beautiful style of play at "Fulham", his lack of experience in "big six" clubs is causing debate within the London club.

Silva's current contract with "Fulham" lasts until June 2026. If Mourinho indeed heads to Madrid, a serious struggle for the Portuguese specialist is expected between the two clubs.

For now, "Chelsea" continues its research, but "Benfica's" activation may force them to make a decision faster.
